Gary Patterson has built TCU into a college football power during his 12 seasons there. Last year, Patterson led the Horned Frogs to an 11-2 record – the school’s fourth straight 11-win season, while also becoming the only program in the country to win 11 or more games in six out of the last seven seasons.
Patterson’s 109 career victories is one shy of eclipsing Dutch Meyer as the school’s all-time winningest coach and he is also fourth among all active coaches nationally with a minimum of five years of experience with a .784 winning percentage. Patterson’s 2010 campaign will go down as one of the greatest seasons in TCU history when he led the Horned Frogs to an undefeated record (13-0) and a victory over Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl. It was the school’s first undefeated campaign since the great Davey O’Brien quarterbacked the Horned Frogs in 1938.
Furthermore, TCU is one of only four programs to be ranked in the season-ending Top 15 in both the AP and USA Today polls over the last four years while also finishing in the Top 10 four times in the last seven years.
Former LSU coach Trent Johnson is looking to revive TCU’s men’s basketball tradition that hasn’t seen a Horned Frog hoop team reach the NCAA tournament since 1998. TCU has only made seven trips to the Big Dance, but one of those was an appearance in the NCAA tournament Elite Eight in 1968.
