Mountaineers In The Pros Update: July 7

Former WVU infielder Vince Belnome made his MLB debut last week as the Tampa Bay Rays called him up from Triple-A Durham.

Belnome batted sixth and served as the designated hitter in an 8-1 loss to the Detroit Tigers on Thursday. Belnome went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts.

This is the second stint he has had with the big club this season after earning a one-day call up in April.

The Coatesville, Pa., native was a three-year starter and a 2009 All-American at West Virginia. In the career rankings he is No. 3 in RBIs (174), No. 4 in batting average (.388) and No. 8 in doubles (51)
