Smith Named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week

IRVING, Texas - Lache Seastrunk (Baylor), Geno Smith (West Virginia), Eddie Lackey (Baylor) and Tress Way (Oklahoma) have been chosen the season's final Big 12 Football Players of the Week, as selected by a media panel. Smith and Seastrunk shared the offensive honor. It was the third award for Smith and first for Seastrunk. Lackey claimed the defensive category for the second consecutive week while Way was recognized for special teams honors for the second time in his career.

Big 12 Offensive Co-Players of the Week
Lache Seastrunk, Baylor, RB, So, Temple, Texas
Lache Seastrunk rushed 16 times for 178 yards and a touchdown in Baylor's 41-34 win over No. 23 Oklahoma State. He scored BU's final touchdown on a 76-yard run to clinch the victory with 5:11 remaining in the fourth quarter. The sophomore averaged 11.1 yards per carry and has rushed for over 100 yards in three straight games and in four of the last five games.

Geno Smith, West Virginia, QB, Sr, Miami, Fla.
Geno Smith completed 23-of-24 passes for 407 yards and three touchdowns in West Virginia's 59-10 victory against Kansas. He set the WVU consecutive pass completions record with 21, spanning the first through fourth quarters, breaking the Big 12 record of 20 previously held by Chase Daniel in 2008. Smith's completion percentage of 95.8 tied the NCAA record (min. 20 attempts) and also set a Conference mark.

Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week
Eddie Lackey, Baylor, Jr, LB, Murrieta, Calif.
Eddie Lackey made a career-high 15 tackles and picked off a pass in Baylor's win over OSU. His 12 solo tackles were also a career-best. Lackey returned the interception 26 yards for a touchdown to give the Bears their first lead of the game, which they did not relinquish. He has a team-leading four interceptions this season, including three over the last two games.

Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week
Tress Way, Oklahoma, P, Sr, Tulsa, Okla.
Tress Way averaged 49.3 yards on his seven punts in Oklahoma's 24-17 win over TCU. Two of his kicks landed inside TCU's 20-yard line. Way booted a 75-yarder in the third quarter, which was his season-long and the third-longest of his career. It was his fifth career punt to travel at least 70 yards.
