Austin All-Purpose Performer of the Year

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – West Virginia University’s Tavon Austin has earned the 2012 All-Purpose Performer of the Year Trophy, announced today by College Football Performance Awards. Austin will receive the award at the Mountaineers' home men's basketball game vs. Oakland on Dec. 19.

Austin, the Mountaineers' leader in receptions, contributed 2,764 all-purpose yards this season. He averaged 12.9 yards per play, including 9.8 yards per rush attempt. He has scored 17 total touchdowns this season as a result of receptions, rushes, kick returns and punt returns.

On Nov. 17, Austin set a Big 12 record with 572 all-purpose yards in the team's 50-49 loss to Oklahoma. He needs 433 yards to set the FBS record for all-purpose yardage.

West Virginia will face Syracuse in the Pinstripe Bowl on Dec. 29.
