West Virginia University football sports information director Mike Montoro has confirmed that center Joe Madsen has accepted an invitation to play in this year’s Senior Bowl to be played Jan. 26 in Mobile, Ala.

The game will once again be televised nationally on NFL Network.

Madsen started all 12 regular season games for the Mountaineers in 2012 and made 50 starts during his four-year career, but following West Virginia’s final regular season game against Kansas, Madsen was ruled academically ineligible for West Virginia’s 2012 Pinstripe Bowl game against Syracuse. Madsen also missed West Virginia’s 2010 Champs Sports Bowl game against NC State.

In December, Madsen was named all-Big 12 Conference second team.

The Chardon, Ohio resident becomes the 46th Mountaineer player to accept an invitation to play in college football’s most prestigious all-star game, and the 17th since 2004.

Quarterback Geno Smith and All-American wide receiver Tavon Austin were also invited to play in this year’s game but it looks like both will declined.
