IMG Adds Three More to Network

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The West Virginia Mountaineers and IMG College announced today added three more stations: WEIR-AM Weirton, WV and WADC-AM / WHBR-FM in Parkersburg, WV.

The stations will carry WVU football and men’s basketball, these sports’ respective Coach’s Shows, and the “Mountaineer Minute” daily report. Additionally, and WADC-AM / WHBR-FM will carry women’s basketball and baseball games.

“We’re thrilled to carry on the tradition of Mountaineer football and basketball on WEIR in Weirton, WV,” said station owner Jay Philippone. “WVU Sports on the radio is very important to the fans in our listening area.”

“The Mountaineers have been a big part of Results Radio as long I can remember, and we are proud that tradition will continue this season in our partnership with IMG. Let’s Go Mountaineers!” said WADC-AM / WHBR-FM General Manager Don Staats.

“We want to welcome WEIR-AM and WADC-AM / WHBR-FM to the Mountaineer Sports Network from IMG,” said Chris Ferris, VP of Broadcasting for IMG College, which operates the nation’s largest independent sports radio network. “We’re especially pleased to be adding baseball and women’s basketball coverage for listeners in the Parkersburg area.”

West Virginia University and IMG College, which operates the nation’s largest independent sports radio network, formed a broad 12-year multimedia rights and sponsorship partnership including exclusive representation and management of game broadcasts and coaches’ shows on the Mountaineer Sports Network from IMG beginning in the 2013-14 season.

Mountaineer Sports Network from IMG plans to add four hours of pre- and post-game coverage for WVU football. Pregame shows will expand from one hour to 3.5 hours and postgame shows to two hours from 30 minutes. The network now has 40 affiliates carrying live WVU sports with more expected to be announced.
