Four West Virginia University football players have signed free agent contracts with NFL teams since the conclusion of last weekend’s NFL draft.

Safety Darwin Cook (Cleveland Browns), defensive tackle Shaq Rowell (Carolina Panthers), linebacker Doug Rigg (Chicago Bears) and offensive tackle Curtis Feigt (Cincinnati Bengals) have all inked free agent deals.

Cook was a three-year starter at boundary safety who earned second team all-Big 12 honors following a senior year in 2013 that saw him rank fourth in the Big 12 and 35th nationally in interceptions with four. He was also second on the team in total tackles with 74 and finished his career with 243 total stops. Cook is best known for his pivotal 99-yard fumble return for a touchdown against Clemson in the 2012 Discover Orange Bowl that completely turned that game around.

Rowell had 47 tackles and four tackles for a loss during his senior season in 2013. He produced a total of 97 tackles and 11 tackles for losses in 35 career games as a Mountaineer.

Rigg was a three-year starter at linebacker where he finished with 39 tackles as a senior in 2013. His best season came in 2012 when he accumulated 58 tackles, 2 ½ tackles for losses, a sack, an interception and a forced fumble. He accumulated 141 tackles, 9 ½ tackles for losses and three sacks in 45 career games.

A converted defensive tackle, Feigt became a two-year starter at left tackle for West Virginia. He played in 31 career games, starting 19, earning all-Big 12 honorable mention honors in 2013.

Another Mountaineer senior, center Pat Eger, has yet to sign with a team but has workouts scheduled with the New York Giants, Baltimore Ravens and Miami Dolphins.

Two West Virginia players were selected in last weekend’s NFL draft - running back Charles Sims, who went in the third round to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and defensive tackle Will Clarke, who was a third-round choice of the Cincinnati Bengals.
