MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – This season, the West Virginia University gymnastics team will lift the veil and give Mountaineer fans a closer look in The Extra Tenth. Each Monday, a different gymnast will be featured.
The 10th edition features junior Amanda Carpenter. The Lancaster, Pa., native has become a staple in the Mountaineers’ beam lineup, as her graceful lines and steadiness under pressure has captured audiences this season. Carpenter has hit for a career-best 9.825 twice this year, including a second-place finish at No. 18 Maryland on Feb. 17. A two-time regional bars champion while competing at Prestige Gymnastics, she has been making progress on her bars routine and could see time in the lineup soon. Full Name: Amanda Bridget Carpenter
