West Virginia University forward Aaric Murray
was named Phillips 66 Big 12 rookie of the week after averaging 11 points and 8.5 rebounds in West Virginia’s pair of non-conference wins over Marshall and Virginia Tech, the conference announced today.
Murray began the week with a seven-point, 10-rebound effort in a 69-59 victory over Marshall in the Chesapeake Energy Capital Classic in Charleston before ending it with a 15-point, seven-board performance in West Virginia’s 68-67 victory over Virginia Tech at the Coliseum on Saturday.
Murray is now averaging a team-best 10.4 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.
West Virginia (4-3) returns to action on Tuesday night against Duquesne at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. and the game will be televised nationally on CBS Sports Network.
