Men's Hoops to Appear on Tip-Off Marathon

The West Virginia-Virginia Tech men’s basketball game on Tuesday, Nov. 12 will tip at 1 p.m., and will be a part of ESPN’s 24-hour Hoops Tip-Off Marathon. The game will be played at Cassell Coliseum in Blacksburg, Va., and will be televised nationally on ESPN.

Last year, the two teams met for the first time since 2004 and the Mountaineers came away with a 68-67 victory in Morgantown. WVU and Virginia Tech have met 76 times with the Mountaineers holding a 47-29 series lead.

IMG Adds 13 More Stations to Network

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The West Virginia Mountaineers and IMG College continue to add new affiliates to their new radio network with 13 additional station affiliates from three states signing on to the Mountaineer Sports Network from IMG. The new network for live WVU sports now has 35 affiliates. The new stations are:

· WCBC-AM / WCBC-FM in Cumberland, MD

· WCEF-FM in Ripley, WV

· WCHG-FM in Hot Springs, VA

· WNMP-FM in Marlinton, WV

· WVHU-AM in Huntington, WV

· WVLS-FM in Monterey, VA

· WVMR-AM / WVMR-FM in Dunmore-Hillsboro, WV

· WVRC-AM / WVRC-FM in Spencer, WV

· WWVA-AM / WBBD-AM in Wheeling, WV

The stations will air football and men’s basketball along with their respective coaches’ shows and a daily “Mountaineer Minute” report, with the exception of WVMR/WVMR-FM, WVLS-FM, WCHG-FM, and WNMP-FM, which are non-commercial stations and will carry football only. As non-commercial stations, the broadcasts will have underwritten corporate support.

“We are very excited to welcome this large group of station affiliates to the still-growing Mountaineer Sports Network from IMG,” said Chris Ferris, VP of Broadcasting for IMG College. “As we continue to grow and expand WVU’s fan base through the Mountaineer Sports Network from IMG, we are open to discussing options for coverage in markets where owners/operators are interested in carrying WVU Athletics.”

West Virginia University and IMG College, which operates the nation’s largest independent sports radio network, formed a broad 12-year multimedia rights and sponsorship partnership including exclusive representation and management of game broadcasts and coaches’ shows on the Mountaineer Sports Network from IMG beginning in the 2013-14 season.

Mountaineer Sports Network from IMG plans to add four hours of pre- and post-game coverage for WVU football. Pregame shows will expand from one hour to 3.5 hours and postgame shows to two hours from 30 minutes.
