Pictures from Day 2

Our first full day at Grande Sports Academy started with a team breakfast at 6 a.m. As we finished our plates, my teammates and I eagerly headed out of the dining room to prepare for our first morning training session.

The morning session began with speed and agility training, followed by technical drills. We finished with a goal-scoring workout where three teams competed to see who could score the most goals in a given time. The competitive nature of our team reflected during this final part of training. No matter what we do as a team whether it’s running, possession or finishing, we compete with each other at the highest level. These in-practice competitions not only push us to compete for playing time, but they are also preparing us for our season, a season that could not come soon enough.

After practice we headed into the weight room to get a strength workout in. These workouts push us mentally and physically and I notice that our team character grows the most during these workouts. Nothing brings guys closer than being pushed to their limits and having teammates right beside them to support them.

Between our morning workouts and our night session we had team meetings that allowed us to come together learn more about one another. We discussed ways we can become better men, better teammates and how we can grow as a team. This was something new that I have never done before with any team that I have been on. These guys on this team feel like my family and the team meetings we had today helped this family become closer. As we continue to grow as a team on and off the field, our goal to win championships this year will not only mean more to us, but they will come closer to becoming a reality.

Our 8 p.m. session consisted of an intrasquad scrimmage that pushed our fitness and showed how well we can play together. We definitely have a lot to improve on if we want to meet the expectations that we have set for ourselves, but we have gotten off to a great start as a team.

The facilities here are unbelievable. Everything our team needs in order to be successful is right at our fingertips. Our coaches have provided us with such an amazing opportunity and its up to us to take advantage of this time we have here and carry this experience with us throughout our season. Our future as a team looks bright so far and I am absolutely blessed to be apart of it.
