MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Continuing to bask in the celebration that surrounds its nation-best 16th NCAA Championships victory, the West Virginia University rifle team visited with West Virginia Governor Earl Ray Tomblin on Monday, April 21, at the State Capitol, in Charleston.
The Governor met with the team and presented each Mountaineer with a Certificate of Recognition acknowledging the team’s success throughout the 2013-14 season.
Following their time at the Capitol, the Mountaineers spoke with students at Charleston’s Mountaineer Montessori School. The team ended the day at the Mountaineer Athletic Club’s annual Charleston Dinner at the Charleston Civic Center.
The Mountaineers secured their second straight NCAA title with a 4705 score at the 2014 NCAA Rifle Championships, on March 14-15, at Murray State’s CFSB Center, in Murray, Ky. The win was the third championship secured under eight-year coach Jon Hammond.
