The Mountaineer swimming and diving Key Largo edition of the annual training trip is in full swing.

After a treacherous travel day on the 27th, we got our first TEAM practice in on the 28th. After swimming out the travel in the morning, the middle distance and distance groups got after it in the pool and established this year's "Swimmer of the Practice" with a Conch Shell. The first ‘Conch’ winner was Aidan Fumagalli.

The 29th was a single morning practice in the water, followed by watching the Pinstripe Bowl and then drylands after. A swim/kick set separated by fly/free 50's set was a great challenge for us and Mandie Nugent put forth a great effort and won the ‘Conch’ for that practice.

December 30th was our first official "groups" practice day which consisted of drylands, a speed/power circuit and a great stroke set. Jay Hickey took home the ‘Conch’ honors!

New Year’s Eve morning practice! Today is about swimming FAST and ending 2012 with a swimming bang! This morning that's just what they did! The set- 3x200, 3x100 & 3x50 or 3x100, 3x50, 3x25 was dominated by ‘Conch’ winner Hugh Simmonds!

The weather's been great, the training's been great and the Mountaineers are getting faster and stronger. It's been a great way to start the Mountaineer Training, Key's Edition! Up next team practice at 6 p.m.
