MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Graduating senior Rachael Burnett
of the WVU women’s swimming team scored points for the Mountaineers on Tuesday at the 2013 Phillips 66 National Championships and World Championship Trials in the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis.
Burnett swam the 800 free, the first of three events, finishing in 15th place with a time of 8:44.15.
“That was a great 800 for Rachael and was just off her lifetime best,” coach Vic Riggs says. “She swam a very smart race and competed well. She’s very close to having a breakthrough swim in that event. Now it’s time to see what kind of speed she has tomorrow in the 200.”
Tomorrow’s action will be feature Burnett in the 200 free and senior Bryce Bohman
will represent the men in the 200 back.
The preliminary swim will be held at 9 a.m. EST, with the finals beginning at 6 p.m.
