The Mountaineer women's team took in the sights in Paris on Monday.

Bon jour! Today was the first day the WVU women’s basketball team spent in France. The Mountaineers arrived at 8 a.m. Paris time, which is 2 a.m. Eastern time. A majority of the group did not get very much sleep on theeight hour flight, so the effects of jet lag began to fall into place duringthe morning tour.

WVU’s tour guide, Richard, took the team on a bus tour around the entire city to see monuments and historical buildings, including theEiffel tower, the Louvre Museum and the Notre Dame Cathedral. The tour by buswas excellent because traffic was light due to the fact that many tourists cometo Paris in the month of August, while many of the locals take the month offfor vacation time. The team had the opportunity to experience French cuisinefor lunch and after seeing the sights, had free time in the afternoon, whichmost spent catching up on sleep.

The hotel hosted a welcome dinner for the team and afterdinner the Mountaineers moved on to a tour of Paris by water on a Seine Rivercruise. Today was a lot of seeing the outside of the buildings, while tomorrow, the team will experience actually visiting the Louvre Museum and the opportunity to go up in the Eiffel Tower. Between the Paris adventures, theMountaineers will tip off for their first game at 4:30 p.m. (10:30 a.m. ET) in Paris.
