With the 2012 season just around the corner, WVUsports.com will get to know the 12 newcomers on the West Virginia women’s soccer team. Today’s edition features defender Cari Price. What attracted you to play soccer at West Virginia University?I really fell in love with the campus on my visit. Even if I wasn’t playing soccer, West Virginia was a place that I am comfortable with over the next four years. Then you add the coaching staff and the soccer-specific facilities, you can’t beat it. I could spend all my time here at the practice facility.
Was distance a factor in your decision? Not really. West Virginia just happens to be only a three-hour drive from my house. I also considered Florida State, so distance wasn’t a factor. WVU had everything I wanted.
Of the teams not on your schedule, whom would you like to play most?Maryland. My club coach is now the head coach there. I think it would be fun to beat up on him.
How did you spend your summer?I spent a lot of time at my house and spent some time with my horse, Sky. I had to sell her before I came here.
Why should Mountaineer fans come out to see the women’s soccer team play this year?I think we are going to have a really exciting year with all the talent on this team. I think this team can make a good run in the NCAA tournament with a good fan base behind us.
