MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women’s soccer team earned its 11th consecutive NSCAA Team Academic Award for its work in the classroom announced today by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).

WVU was recognized for its team grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher for the 2011-12 academic year. The Mountaineers posted a team GPA of 3.34 last year, as eight of the nine Big 12 soccer teams were honored with the award.

“To be honored for our hard work on and off the field in 11 straight years is very impressive,” says coach Nikki Izzo-Brown. “Our ladies, along with Erica Wycherley in our academic support office, deserve all the credit and should be proud of this award.”

West Virginia’s 2012 season ended with a 13th consecutive NCAA tournament appearance and a Big 12 regular-season championship.
