Buchanan, Canada Capture Third Place

Freshman Kadeisha Buchanan capped off a successful first year at WVU with a third-place finish with the Canadian Women's National Team yesterday in Brazil.
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University freshman defender Kadeisha Buchanan and the Canadian Women’s National Team finished in third place at the 2013 Torneio Internacional Cidade de Sao Paolo with a 1-0 victory over Scotland on Dec. 22, in Brasilia, Brazil.
Buchanan, a Brampton, Ontario, native, played all 90 minutes on the backline for Canada; she played the full 90 minutes in three of the team’s four matches in Brazil.
Yesterday’s victory was the team’s second of the tournament over Scotland. Canada previously earned a 2-0 win on Dec. 12. The squad fell 1-0 to Chile on Dec. 15 and played to a 0-0 draw against Brazil on Dec. 18.  
The Canadian Women’s National Team will return to the field on January 31, when the squad faces the United States Women’s National Team in Frisco, Texas.
