ACADEMIC COORDINATOR - STUDENT-ATHLETE DEVELOPMENT - FOOTBALL - West Virginia University invites applications for the position of Academic Coordinator, Football. The position will report to the Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Development and provide academic support and guidance to football student-athletes. Responsibilities include: Organizing and implementing academic support programs that contribute to the educational growth of student-athletes. Evaluate academic records to determine progress towards degree and eligibility. Requires knowledge of institutional and NCAA eligibility requirements. Inform coaches regarding institutional and NCAA requirements related to student-athlete’s academic progress. Monitor study hall and tutorial sessions. Assist with test preparation, study skills and time management. Advise student-athletes in identifying educational and career interests, selecting classes and determining academic majors. Communicate with University advisors and athletic compliance office to maintain up-to-date records of academic major requirements and changes to degree programs. Maintain high standard of ethics and integrity related to intercollegiate athletics. Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Participate in campus committees. Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional organizations. Represent the University on the highest professional level with dignity, integrity, and strength of character and exhibit ethical behavior. Must respect the rights and dignity of individuals with sensitivity to problems that may arise from racial, ethnical and sexual orientation differences. Master’s degree, preferably in education, social science, counseling or similar field. 1-2 years of experience directly related to advising student-athletes. Experience working in a Division I academic support unit with basketball or football student-athletes is preferred. ASSISTANT STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING COACH - FOOTBALL - West Virginia University invites applications for the position of Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach. Duties and responsibilities include, assisting with the administration, management and supervision of strength training and conditioning functions for student-athletes participating in the intercollegiate athletics program. The primary responsibilities will include an assignment to football, supervision of the weight room facilities and maintaining inventory of nutritional products. The position will report directly to the Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning. Bachelor’s degree is required and one year previous strength and conditioning coaching experience is required, as well as a proven success rate in the development of student-athletes. Preferable candidates will possess experience at the Division I level and a Master’s degree. The following certifications are required: SCCC or CSCS certification and first aid, CPR, and AED. Additional requirements include strong knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations, outstanding organizational skills, computer literacy and strong communication skills. INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT - West Virginia University invites applications for the part-time position of Instructional Assistant.  The position will specialize in working with the high-risk student-athlete population including student-athletes with learning disabilities and students who are under-prepared for higher education.  Responsibilities include providing time management, organization and academic success skills to student-athletes, management of sensitive and confidential information related to student-athletes, in addition to knowledge of and adherence to West Virginia University and NCAA regulations.  The position will report directly to the Associate Athletic Director Director for Student Services. Master’s degree, preferably in education, special education or similar field, and one year previous experience teaching, tutoring, or otherwise instructing students in a secondary education or higher education environment, is required. Position is a part-time position, expected to serve a maximum of 19 hours per week. Submit a letter of application with a current resume and three references to: HR-Athletics@mail.wvu.edu.  Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. West Virginia University considers applicants for employment without regard to, and does not discriminate on the basis of, gender, race, protected veteran status, disability, or any other legally protected status.
