Track: Three Shine in Day One

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 23 West Virginia University track and field team had an excellent showing today in the first day of competition at the Penn State National Invitational, as three athletes met BIG EAST or NCAA provisional standards.

Junior thrower Terina Miller had a good showing in the 20lb weight throw as she qualified for the conference championships throwing 16.19 meters, while freshman Chene Townsend ran 9.00 in the 60-meter hurdles to also meet a BIG EAST standard.

Junior Chelsea Carrier then posted a NCAA provisional time of 8.38 in the semifinals of the 60-meter hurdles. The Buckhannon, W.Va., native went on to finish sixth in the finals with a time of 8:47.
