MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University men’s soccer team garnered its first Top 25 ranking this year, earning the No. 19 spot in Soccer America and earning the No. 21 spot in the NSCAA/ National Rankings.

West Virginia improved to 5-2-0 last Friday with a convincing 5-0 shutout of DePaul in its BIG EAST opener. Freshman Julio Arjona, sophomores Peabo Doue and Shadow Sebele and juniors Matt Drake and Franck Tayou all scored for the Mountaineers.

The Mountaineers were last in the Soccer America poll on Oct. 19, 2009. West Virginia was most recently in the NSCAA/ National Rankings as the No. 15 team in the 2008 preseason poll. West Virginia was ranked in the Top 25 for 41 straight games from Sept. 5, 2006-Sept. 2, 2008. The Mountaineers were also ranked as high as No. 4 in 2006, coach Marlon LeBlanc's first season.

West Virginia will look to continue its success when it travels to Duquesne on Wednesday, Sept. 29, for a match with Dukes at Rooney Field. The match is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
