MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University football player quotes from Tuesday evening’s media session. The Mountaineers travel to UConn this Friday, Oct. 29, at 8 p.m.

Bradley Starks
On watching UConn’s film:
They are fundamentally sound, they play hard, they play as a team and they do the fundamental things right, and we have to go in there Friday and play.

On the team’s mood:
Hungry right now. We just really want to get back out there on the field and get over the loss we just had. Everybody right now is working hard towards UConn Friday night and trying to get that taste out of our mouth from Syracuse.

Julian Miller
On going on road trips:
It’s almost just like it is you and your team out there. You’re going out on the road in a game like this on national TV in front of the home crowd of a team that is vying for the BIG EAST just like you. Everybody starts coming together and you get a different kind of vibe at away games. You’re in somebody else’s house and they’re trying to defend their turf.

On potential of winning the BIG EAST:
Coach Stew brought up a good point the other day after practice. There are many years where we’ve won the BIG EAST at 5-2. It’s only been done, an undefeated team in the BIG EAST once. We have how many BIG EAST titles though? It’s good just knowing that the goal is still there and can be accomplished.

Don Barclay
On potential of winning the BIG EAST:
It puts pressure on you and you need to step up, bottom line. We’re coming into the second half of our season and this is where you see teams go one way or another. If we’re going to do that, we need to buy in and give a lot of effort. You either go one way or another.

On the day-to-day mindset:
I think with practice it is one day at a time because when you prepare for a team each day is vital. You really have to get stuff down that day so by Thursday when you’re talking through it in the meeting room, you know what’s going on. Day by day is very true.

Brandon Hogan
On being a leader:
You have to lead by example on the field and you don’t always know it, but the guys are looking at you to see what you’re doing. I’m not too much of a talker, I say stuff here and there, but I lead by example and try to help the younger guys get up and get the team going.

On UConn’s running back:
We saw a little bit of him last year. He’s a great back, kind of big. He has nice size, nice speed and he has a lot of vision. He can see the holes and he runs hard, it’s going to be a challenge for us.

On the UConn game:
Every year it’s talked up to be a big game between us. We just need to go out there and play sound football as we have the past couple of years with them. We need to tackle better; we didn’t tackle that well last week and get them to three and outs and off the field.
