Football: Garrison to Miss Orange Bowl

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – West Virginia University freshman running back Dustin Garrison was injured at today’s practice and will miss the Discover Orange Bowl on Jan. 4, 2012, against Clemson.

Garrison sprained the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee; he also has a slight medial collateral ligament sprain in the same knee. He will undergo surgery, and his recovery will require six months of rehabilitation.

WVU’s leading rusher, Garrison, a Pearland, Texas, native, scored six touchdowns and rushed for 742 yards on 136 carries this season. Named to the ESPN.com all-BIG EAST freshman team, he ranks sixth in the BIG EAST in rushing (61.8).
