MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- Stan Posluszny hit a home run and a triple and drove in three Mountaineers as West Virginia blanked Coppin State, 11-0 in seven innings Wednesday afternoon at Hawley Field.

Sophomore Chris Amedro (1-1) collected the complete game shutout victory on the mound allowing no runs on seven hits with just one walk and five strike outs.

West Virginia scored six runs with two outs in the fifth inning to break the game open. Leading 3-0, Kurtis Clinton hit a two-run single scoring Jake Serfass who had walked and Lee Fritz who had singled. Posluszny plated Clinton and Derek Cisar with his triple that found the gap in left center. After a Grant Psomas walk, Coppin State's Graham Johnson misplayed J.C. Sousa's grounder that allowed Posluszny and Psomas to score.

Kurtis Clinton collected three RBI and Psomas added a solo home run to help pace the WVU offense.

The Mountaineers managed their 11 runs on seven hits for the game.

WVU (15-7) will open BIG EAST play this weekend at Hawley Field with a three-game set against Rutgers. The Mountaineers and Scarlet Knights will play two on Saturday, March 29, beginning at 1 p.m. and then wrap up the series on Sunday, March 30, at 1 p.m.
