Through WVU CHAMPS/Life Skills, teams and individual student-athletes may order various career development programs from the menu of presentations. Those that are offered are "Selecting an academic major", "Goal-setting", "Finding an occupation", and "Retirement from sport". Call (304) 293-7062 to request programs.

- WVU Career Services Center

The WVU Career Services Center provides resources and programs to help students, student-athletes, and alumni in all areas of career planning and job searches. Career counselors are available to assist individual student-athletes in choosing a major and developing a career plan for their future upon graduation. Regularly scheduled group seminars are available weekly on variety of topics including resume writing, interview, the job search process and professional etiquette. Student can also use MountaineerTRAK our online career assistance program to search and apply for jobs, learn about career fairs, and access other available resources all created to help students develop a successful job search.

The WVU Career Services Center also offers for-credit classes that can be very useful to student-athletes. Orientation 151 "Career Exploration and Decision-Making" is a two credit hour course with learning outcomes directed toward freshmen and sophomores. Through a series of 14 classes, students explore personal skills, interests and values, decision-making, career resources on campus, employment outlook and opportunities to check out career options. Orientation 252, "The Job Search Process" is also a two credit hour course and is designed with juniors and seniors in mind. This course teaches students how to conduct a successful job search, write resumes and cover letters, and to become skilled at proper interviewing techniques. Both courses are offered as full-semester and mid-semester courses, and are available in the classroom or on line.
