ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, STUDENT-ATHLETE DEVELOPMENT (Academics) - West Virginia University invites applications for the position of Assistant Director of Student-Athlete Development. The position will be responsible for providing academic support and guidance to contribute to the educational and personal growth of student-athletes. Specific sport assignments include wrestling, women’s tennis and women’s rowing. Responsibilities include: Evaluating student-athlete academic records to determine eligibility, implementing specific academic programs to assist student-athletes in meeting their educational goals, monitoring student-athletes during study hall and tutoring, and assisting student-athletes in identifying educational and career interests, selecting classes and determining academic majors. Must maintain frequent communication with coaches, faculty, tutors, and University professionals regarding student-athlete progress and concerns. A master’s degree, preferably in education, social science, counseling or a similar field and 2 years of experience in teaching, tutoring or otherwise instructing students in a higher education environment is required. Experience working academically with student-athletes at an NCAA institution is preferred.
ASSISTANT ATHLETIC DIRECTOR FOR COMPLIANCE - West Virginia University invites applications for the position of Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance. The position will be responsible for assisting the Associate Athletic Director for Governance & Compliance with the administration and conduct of NCAA rules compliance program, assuring that the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics complies with all applicable rules and regulations of the NCAA, Big 12 and West Virginia University. Responsibilities include: Implementing an extensive rules education program that includes the development and delivery of NCAA rules education in the form of seminars, meetings, and other means of compliance updates for coaches, administrative staff, student-athletes, donors and fans to ensure all involved are informed in a timely fashion regarding rules, rule changes, interpretation of rules, etc. The position will be expected to Implement and monitor a computerized compliance system (i.e. Jumpforward) and direct compliance staff in the establishment of compliance strategies and design of monitoring systems to assure compliance with NCAA rules, regulations, guidelines and policies, in addition to serving as the primary liaison for initial and continuing eligibility in the sport of football, including but not limited to conducting preliminary evaluations for prospective student-athletes and facilitating the admissions process in assistance to football staff. Must have excellent public speaking skills. A master’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience, and a minimum of five (5) years progressive experience in NCAA rules compliance, preferably at the Division I level, is required.
INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT (Part-time) - West Virginia University invites applications for the position of Instructional Assistant. This position will specialize in providing time management, organization and academic success skills to student-athletes, management of sensitive and confidential information related to student-athletes, in addition to knowledge of and adherence to West Virginia University and NCAA regulations. A master’s degree, preferably in education, special education or a similar field and 1 year of experience in teaching, tutoring or otherwise instructing students in a secondary education or higher education environment is required.
