Rifle Maintains No. 1 Ranking
The Mountaineers’ (10-0, 5-0 GARC) ranking is based on their team average of 4716.0. Team averages are derived from a squad’s top three scores shot at three different venues. The front-end of the poll remained the same, as TCU, Kentucky, Alaska-Fairbanks and Army round out the top five for the second straight week. Jacksonville State continues to rank No. 6, while the Cornhuskers moved up one spot to No. 7, and Air Force slid down one spot to No. 8. Memphis and Murray State flipped spots and are ranked No. 9 and No. 10, respectively. WVU opened its spring season with a 4689-4661 victory over Nebraska on Jan. 19 at the WVU Rifle Range. The Mountaineers are off this weekend. The squad will close out its regular season and shoot for the Great American Rifle Conference regular-season title at Kentucky on Saturday, Feb. 2. |
