MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University Assistant Athletic Director/Executive Director of the Mountaineer Athletic Club Matt Borman announced today that Kevin Miller has joined the MAC staff as a major gifts officer.

Miller comes to WVU after spending the last three years as the assistant athletic director for development at Georgia State University. At WVU, he will work toward securing high-end annual gifts and funds for major capital projects, as well as endowing student-athlete scholarships.

While at Georgia State, Miller oversaw the annual giving program that grew its unrestricted annual dollars by over 1,500% and its donor base by 450% in the last two fiscal years.

Prior to his time at GSU, Miller served as assistant director with the University of Central Florida’s Golden Knights Club (GKC) from March 2007 – December 2008. There, he coordinated the GKC’s annual giving efforts and ticket priority initiatives by overseeing all priority seating and parking opportunities for more than 4,000 GKC donors. Miller also worked for the UCF Foundation from August 2006 – March 2007 and served as the founding director of the Student Caller Center.

“I am excited about Kevin getting on board and assisting us with the challenge we have of helping the department transition to the Big 12 Conference,” says Borman. “Kevin’s experience as a development officer at Georgia State and Central Florida, as well as his passion for WVU as a proud alum, makes him a wonderful addition to the MAC staff.”

Miller previously served as an intern on the MAC staff from 2005-06. He also worked as a student caller, supervisor and incentives manager for four years at the WVU Foundation from 2002-06. He was named the Foundation’s all-time leading phone-a-thon fundraiser after personally raising more than $320,000 for academic support.

Miller received his bachelor’s degree in business administration-finance in 2005 and his master’s degree in sport management in 2006; both degrees are from WVU.

Borman also announced today that Ben Murray will now serve as the MAC’s director of major gifts and capital campaigns. Murray joined the MAC staff in August 2010 as a major gifts officer. He is now responsible for the MAC major gift operation, which includes endowments, capital projects and The Jerry West Planned Giving Society. Murray also supervises all major gift officers for athletics and serves as the liaison with the WVU Foundation.

Additionally, Adrian Dowell will serve as a major gifts officer and is responsible for securing gifts for the annual fund, major capital projects and endowments for student-athlete scholarships.

Prior to joining the staff in September, Dowell served as a graduate assistant with the MAC from 2009-11 and coordinated marketing initiatives, assisted the major gifts staff, managed game-day premium seating operations and executed sport-specific fundraising programs. He also spent one year (June 2008 – July 2009) at the NCAA National Office as the Division I Men’s and Women’s Postgraduate Intern.

Dowell received his bachelor’s degree in science, health & human performance – sport management from Roanoke College in 2008. He earned an MBA and master’s degree in sport management from WVU in 2011.
