MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia women’s soccer player Bry McCarthy has been selected to play for the Canadian Women’s National Team in the Yongchuan Cup – Four-Nation Women’s Tournament in China.

Canada opens play against China on Jan. 12, before a Jan. 14 match against Korea Republic. The final game of the tournament is against Norway on Jan. 16. All three matches will be played at Yongchuan Olympic Center.

Canada, coming off a Bronze-medal effort at the 2012 London Olympic Games, is moving forward in hopes of identifying players for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

McCarthy closed out her WVU career in 2012 with an All-America season at outside back. She became the first Mountaineer defender to win a major conference award with her Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year honor.
