MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University track and field team begins its 2013-14 season with the Youngstown State University Icebreaker this Friday, Dec. 6, in Youngstown, Ohio.
The meet will be held on the Watson and Tressel Training Site (WATTS) on the YSU campus.
“We will take a small group over to Youngstown to kick-start the season,” says coach Sean Cleary. “This is a low-profiled introduction to our season, and we are anxious to get started.”
Field events get underway at 3 p.m., while the running events follow at 4 p.m. Friday is the beginning of the 37th season of track and field at WVU, and the seventh under the direction of Cleary.
The Mountaineers are looking to build on an eighth-place finish in the Big 12 Conference a season ago, while returning senior Stormy Nesbit, who finished second in the conference in the triple jump last season.
Live results from the race can be found at WVUsports.com, with final results posted following the completion of the competition.
West Virginia will have a lengthy break before returning to action on Saturday, Jan. 11, at the PSU Relays in State College, Pa.
