MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The honors are beginning to pile up for West Virginia University junior forward Joe Alexander. Earlier this week Alexander was named to the 10-member all-Big East first team.
Today, Alexander was selected to the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) District 1 basketball team. Other Big East players named to the team include player of the year A.J. Price and forward Jeff Adrien of Connecticut, Villanova’s Scottie Reynolds and Pitt’s Sam Young.
The USBWA will announce its 2008 All-America team later this month.
Alexander is presently averaging 16.2 points and 6.1 rebounds per game for the 22-9 Mountaineers. West Virginia faces Providence in the opening round of the Big East Tournament Wednesday afternoon at 2 pm. The game will be televised on ESPN.
