MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University forward Devin Ebanks was named Big East rookie of the week following his performances in games last week against Davidson and Duquesne.
The Long Island City, N.Y., resident scored 13 points and pulled down 17 rebounds in West Virginia’s 68-65 loss to Davidson in the Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden in New York City last Tuesday night.
Last Saturday, Ebanks had a 15-point, 10-rebound double-double in the Mountaineers’ 68-63 come-from-behind win at Duquesne.
The freshman has had double-doubles in each of his last three games and has boosted his season averages to 8.1 points and 7.1 rebounds per game.
West Virginia returns to action this Saturday in a noon game against Miami, Ohio at the WVU Coliseum. The contest will be televised on ESPNU.
