MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -Sophomore Chelsea Carrier ran an ECAC and BIG EAST qualifying time in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.62, as the West Virginia University track team hosted the WVU Invitational today.

“The meet fulfilled its purpose,” comments Coach Sean Cleary. “It felt like a little intrasquad meet, and it served its purpose for keeping the kids accountable for the last two weeks while they were away on holiday break. This meet is a launching point for the rest of the season and certainly for next week’s Penn State Open.”

April Rotilio ran a 38.09 in the 300-meter to win the event, while Nicole DeStefano won the 60-meter dash in 8.26.

“April was one of the highlights of the day,” added Cleary. “Her time shows that she is in tremendous shape for her at this point in the year.”

Alex Acker vaulted 3.50-meters in the pole vault, a BIG EAST qualifying mark, while Meghan Mock and Natasha Redman both hit 1.60-meters in the high jump to tie in the event.

The Mountaineers will compete in the Penn State Open on January 17, in State College, Pa.
