Women’s Soccer: Ranked 25th, McCarthy Honored

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women’s soccer team checks in at No. 25 in today’s Soccer America Top 25, and received 72 votes in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Top 25.

Forward Bry McCarthy was named to CollegeSoccer360’s Primetime Performers of the Week for her efforts over the weekend. The Ajax, Ontario, native scored with less than six minutes to play to force overtime as No. 12 West Virginia played to a 1-1 draw with No. 9 Virginia in Charlottesville, Va.

McCarthy was named to the Virginia NIKE Soccer Classic All-Tournament Team and took three shots in 136 minutes of action versus UVa and Dartmouth. McCarthy’s goal was the second of the season for the true freshman.

WVU also checks in at No. 14 in the recent SoccerTimes Top 25, and No. 15 in the latest TopDrawerSoccer ranking.

The Mountaineers return to action with their BIG EAST opener at Pitt on Friday, Sept. 18. Kickoff is schedule for 7 p.m. at Founders Field.
