  Forward Frances Silva.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - With the 2010 season underway, MSNsportsNET.com will get to know the six freshmen on the West Virginia women’s soccer team. Today’s edition features forward Frances Silva.

What attracted you to play soccer at West Virginia University?
I really liked the tradition of the program and the chance to play at an elite Division I school. And the coaching staff was very friendly and seemed determined to help everyone grow as soccer players.

Who has had the biggest influence on your soccer career?
My parents because they paid for everything and kept me playing when they didn’t have to. They sacrificed a lot for me to get me to this point.

Of the teams not on your schedule, whom would you like to play most?
Kansas because it would be close to home and my friends and family could come to the game.

How did you spend your summer?
Hanging out with my friends and preparing for our fitness tests that I heard so much about.

Tell us why Mountaineer fans should turn out to see the women’s soccer team play this year.
A lot of people don’t really follow the sport here in the states but it is truly a fun game to watch and the atmosphere in the stands is always incredible.
