Swimming: Burnett Earns BIG EAST Honor

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University sophomore Rachael Burnett was named the BIG EAST Female Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week on Thursday, the conference announced.

Burnett posted three individual wins in the 148-146 Mountaineer victory over Rutgers on Nov. 13. A native of Annandale, Va., Burnett finished the 100 free in a time of 53.19 and the 200 free in 1:15.77, both first-place finishes. She also finished first in the 400 IM (4:25.76).

Most recently in the UNC Nike Cup, Burnett placed third in the 500 free (4:48.08), fourth in the 400 IM (4:18.54) and 10th in the 200 fly (2:02.48).

Connecticut sophomore Karim Zayed was named the BIG EAST Male Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week.
