Women's Tennis: WVU to Host Three Matches
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University tennis team is set to host three-straight matches on March 11-13, against Cincinnati, Army and Providence. “This weekend, we're looking to build on our win yesterday,” says coach Tina Samara. “We have a long three-day weekend with three tough matches.” WVU improved its regular season record to 3-7 and 1-2 in the BIG EAST, after defeating Duquesne in a 5-2 match on Wednesday. The Mountaineers will begin the weekend on Friday, with a 2 p.m. match against the Bearcats. Cincinnati currently has a record of 2-10, while going 1-2 in the BIG EAST. In last season’s match-up, WVU pulled through with a 5-2 victory over Cincinnati to continue its winning-streak over several BIG EAST opponents, including Pitt, Georgetown and Connecticut. The Mountaineers will continue competition on Sunday, with a double header against Army at 10 a.m., followed by a 7:30 p.m. match against Providence. “Hopefully we capitalize when we have the opportunity,” concludes Samara. “We have a lot of tennis ahead of us.” Tags West Virginia University, Women's Tennis, Tina Samara |
