Women's Basketball: Repella Earns All-America
Connecticut’s Maya Moore was selected as the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award recipient as chosen by a nationwide vote of Division I women’s basketball head coaches, national media and fans. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence – community, classroom, character and competition. An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities. Repella was joined by fellow BIG EAST classmate Sam Quigley from DePaul on the second team, as well as Dawn Evans from James Madison, Amber Harris from Xavier and Jasmine Thomas from Duke. Beside Moore, the first team consisted of Erin Anthony from Army, Angie Bjorklund from Tennessee, Kayla Pedersen from Stanford and Danielle Robinson of Oklahoma. The all-America status is the second for Repella this season as she earned ESPN/CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team honors earlier this season. She also WBCA/State Farm Coaches’ All-America Team honorable mention as a finalist for the all-America team. |
