MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - West Virginia moved up one spot to 18th in this week’s Associated Press Top 25 football poll and advanced four spots to 20th in the USA Today coaches’ poll, both released earlier today.

It is the third straight week for the Mountaineers in the AP poll, West Virginia starting the year 24th, and the second week in the coaches’ poll. WVU’s first appearance in the coaches’ poll came last week at No. 22.

South Florida is 20th in this week’s AP poll and 22nd in the coaches’ poll. The Bulls are the only other Big East team in this week’s rankings.
West Virginia (2-0) takes on Maryland (1-0) in College Park this Saturday at noon in a game that will be televised nationally on ESPNU. The Terps, who started the season with a 32-24 victory over Miami, did not play last weekend.
