Swimming: WVU Heads to Pitt Invitational

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will head to Pittsburgh, Pa., this weekend for the Pitt Invitational from Nov. 18-20. The meet will take place at Trees Pool.
Along with the Mountaineers and the Panthers, Cincinnati and Connecticut will be using their full teams, while Ohio State will bring their women’s squad and Michigan will bring divers to the invitational. The preliminary round will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, with finals beginning at 6 p.m. On Sunday, preliminaries will begin at 9 a.m.
Both the men’s and women’s teams are coming off a win in a double dual meet against Cincinnati and Villanova. The women defeated the Bearcats 191-104 and the Wildcats 166-131. The men won by a score of 178-107 against Cincinnati and 190-100 against Villanova.
For the women, Danielle Smith set a new pool record in the 100 back, while Rachael Burnett continued to dominate in her events taking first in the 200 free, 500 free and 400 IM. The men had multiple scoring finishes in each event, especially in the 50 free and 100 free. Taylor Camp took first in the 100 fly and 200 fly, while Bryce Bohman took first in the 100 back and 200 back.
