Rifle: WVU Drops to No. 3
The Mountaineers (6-0, 4-0 GARC) have been ranked in the top three all season and were last slotted at No. 3 on Nov. 8. This week’s ranking is based on WVU’s last recorded score, a winning 4671 mark, shot against No. 5 Ole Miss on Nov. 12. TCU retained the No. 1 ranking after shooting 4692 in a triangular win over Army and Murray State on Nov. 19, while Kentucky moved up to No. 2 with a 4691-4646 win over Alaska-Fairbanks on Nov. 20. The CRCA issues new rankings every week this season, and each poll is based on the team’s most recent reported score. Army (4666) continues to rank No. 4 this week, and Alaska-Fairbanks (4646) and Ole Miss (4646) are tied at No. 5. The bottom half of the top 10 opens with Jacksonville State (4640) and Nevada (4640) tied at No. 7. Murray State (4636) is ranked No. 9, while UTEP (4633) is No. 10. The Mountaineers have concluded their fall season and will return to the WVU Rifle Range on Jan. 14, when they play host to No. 19 Akron at 8 a.m. |
