Wrestling: Mountaineer Grapplers Ranked in Polls
Following first-place finishes at the Navy Classic and Washington & Jefferson Tournament, Shane Young (125) is ranked No. 18 by InterMat, No. 16 by Wrestling Report and No. 17 by Open Mat. The Jeannette, Pa., native holds a 9-0 record this season. Colin Johnston (133), who sat out the Navy Classic, is ranked No. 15 by InterMat, No. 14 by Wrestling Report, No. 9 by WIN and No. 16 by Open Mat. Johnston sports a 6-0 record this season. After also placing first at the Navy Classic and Washington & Jefferson Tournament, Nathan Pennesi (141) holds rankings of No. 20 by InterMat, No. 24 by Wrestling Report, and No. 19 by WIN. The Latrobe, Pa., native is 9-0 on the season. Matt Ryan (184), who sat out the previous two tournaments, but will return to action this weekend, is ranked No. 16 by InterMat, No. 19 by Wrestling Report, No. 19 by WIN and No. 17 by Open Mat. Also returning to action to will be Brandon Williamson (HWT), who sat out the Navy Classic. The Riverside, Conn., native is ranked No. 20 by Wrestling Report. After enjoying a week off from competition, WVU will return to action this weekend as it travels to Las Vegas, Nev., for the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational.
