Football: Flipper the Dolphin Picks WVU

MIAMIA LAKES, Fla. - After correctly predicting Stanford’s win last year, Flipper at the Miami Seaquarium was feeling confident when it came to selecting the winner of the 2012 Discover Orange Bowl. On Monday afternoon (12/5), Flipper made his pick for the winner of the 78th edition of the game, selecting the West Virginia Mountaineers to defeat the Clemson Tigers on January 4 at Sun Life Stadium.

Flipper was joined by Orange Bowl Chief Operating Officer Michael Saks and Second Vice-Chair Luis Boué, as he made his selection by showing off his “kicking” skills, choosing the Mountaineers by booting their assigned ball out of the pool, signifying the game winner.

Two respective conference champions, No. 15 Clemson and No. 23 West Virginia, will meet in the 78th Discover Orange Bowl on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla. Both teams enter among the hottest teams offensively in the country, ranking in the top-15 nationally in passing offense and top-30 nationally in scoring offense and total offense.
