MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Defender Eric Schoenle of the West Virginia men’s soccer team earned All-America recognition as a third team member from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).

“Congratulations to Eric on this honor as he has developed into one of the premier center backs in college soccer,” coach Marlon LeBlanc says. “We are excited that Eric will return to the program next season and continue to provide his leadership abilities.”

A Yardley, Pa., native, Schoenle started all 20 games in 2011 and was third on the team with nine points, recording three goals and three assists. Defensively, Schoenle helped anchor a back line that recorded eight shutouts and allowed an average of four shots per game. Schoenle is a two-time all-BIG EAST selection.

West Virginia finished the 2011 season with an 11-8-1 record, 6-3-0 in BIG EAST play. The Mountaineers advanced to the second round NCAA tournament for the second consecutive season.
