The Buckhannon, W.Va., native earned All-America honors last season and was named the Mid-Atlantic Field Athlete of the Year in 2010. Carrier has been named to the Garrett Ford Academic Honor Roll, which requires a 3.0 grade point average, six times and has twice been named to the President’s List, requiring a perfect 4.0 grade point average.

Bitancurt, who is a multidisciplinary studies major, is currently in his third season as the kicker for the Mountaineer football team. The native of Springfield, Va., has converted 16 of his 22 field goal attempts this season and 39 of his 54 career field goal attempts. In 2009, Bitancurt was named All-BIG EAST by the league coaches, ESPN.com, The Sporting News, rivals.com and second team by Phil Steele. Bitancurt is also a member of the Garrett Ford Academic Honor Roll.

Established in 1995, the Scholar Baller movement evolved in response to concerns that the student-athletes athletics role increasingly superseded the student role. In order to address this issue, the founding members of Scholar Baller developed a groundbreaking program to bridge the gap between education and sport utilizing student-athletes passion for entertainment and athletics. As a result, the Scholar Baller program has produced unprecedented outcomes in student retention and academic achievement.
