Wrestling: Bryson, Four Others Ranked

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – After defeating three ranked opponents and placing third at the Reno Tournament of Champions, redshirt junior Lance Bryson (174) made a jump in multiple polls this week.

The native of Shoaf, Pa., is ranked No. 17 by Wrestling Report and No. 19 by Wrestling Insider Newsmagazine. Bryson now holds a 16-6 overall record this season.

Along with Bryson, four other Mountaineers were ranked in separate polls.

Junior Shane Young (125), who has compiled a 13-3 record, is ranked No. 24 by Wrestling Report and No. 20 by Amateur Wrestling News.

Redshirt sophomore Nathan Pennesi (133/141) comes in at No. 28 in Wrestling Report, No. 19 in WIN and No. 20 in AWN. The Latrobe, Pa., native placed fifth at the Reno Tournament of Champions and holds an 18-4 record this season.

Redshirt Senior Matt Ryan (184) is ranked No. 20 by Wrestling Report, No. 17 by InterMat, No. 20 by AWN and No. 19 by WIN. Ryan is 7-3 overall this season.

Redshirt senior Brandon Williamson (HWT), who has a 13-6 mark, is ranked No. 25 by Wrestling Report.

The Mountaineers will return to action this Friday, as they host their first home dual meet of the year against No. 13 Maryland.
