Football: Two Changes to Orange Bowl Stats

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – A couple of minor adjustments were made to the official game statistics from Wednesday night’s Orange Bowl victory over Clemson.

One rush for six yards credited to Tavon Austin was changed to a pass, and linebacker Doug Rigg was credited with a forced fumble on Darwin Cook’s 99-yard return for a touchdown.

Following the changes, quarterback Geno Smith’s final passing line for the Orange Bowl is now adjusted to 32 completions in 43 attempts for 407 yards. The team’s passing total for the game is now 407 yards.

That change brings Smith’s season passing total to 4,385 yards - WVU and Big East records.

Tavon Austin’s final receiving total is now 12 catches for 123 yards while his rushing total is now adjusted to three carries for 40 yards. The team rushing total for the game is now 182 yards.

Austin’s final regular season receiving total is 101 catches for 1,186 yards and eight touchdowns.

The two adjustments were approved by the NCAA.
