Track: Home for the State Farm Games
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Hosting a meet for the second time of the indoor season, the West Virginia track and field team returns to the Shell Building for the WVU State Farm Games on Saturday.
The meet is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. with the weight throws and end at approximately 3:30 p.m. with the 4x400 relays.
“Competing at home is always enjoyable in front of friends and family,” says WVU coach Sean Cleary. “You don’t have to deal with traveling, so you’re able to put more time and focus on the individuals competing.”
The WVU State Farm Games will feature Waynesburg, Hood College, Hagerstown Community College, Bethany College, West Virginia Wesleyan, Frostburg State and Elon.
“Our ladies need to go out and compete with the focus required for lifetime-best performances and BIG EAST qualifying marks,” Cleary says. “We just need to go out and compete. If we just compete, great times and distances will unfold as they should. The indoor season will be used to prepare for the outdoors.”
Six Mountaineers have qualified for the BIG EAST Indoor Championships thus far, including jumpers Stormy Nesbit, Sydney Cummings and Meghan Mock, throwers Terina Miller and Heather Adams and pole vaulter Katlyn Shelar.
The meet will be scored live and can be viewed on MSNsportsNET.com, where results will also be posted at the conclusion of the event.
