Rifle: WVU Suffers First Loss of Season at TCU
The Horned Frogs claimed first place in both guns, winning air rifle, 2363-2358, and smallbore, 2338-2311. Seniors Michael Kulbacki and Justin Pentz, junor Petra Zublasing and freshmen Taylor Ciotola and Thomas Kyanko contributed their talents to today’s effort. TCU’s Sarah Scherer claimed first place overall (1184) and in both guns, winning air rifle (595) and smallbore (589). Another Horned Frog, Sarah Beard, came in second place overall (1180); she also placed second in air rifle (594) and smallbore (586). Zublasing placed third overall with a score of 1178. She also tied for second in air rifle with a score of 594 (100, 99, 99, 100, 98, 98) and shot 584 smallbore (190 prone, 197 standing, 197 kneeling) for third place. Kiisk (592) finished second on the team and fourth overall with a personal-best air rifle score. He was followed by TCU’s Caitlin Morrissey (590) in fifth place and classmate Ciotola (589) in sixth place. Pentz (588) tied with TCU’s Jaime Dowd for seventh place overall. Kulbacki (587) finished ninth overall, while freshman Amy Bock and Kyanko tied for 10th overall at 586. After Zublasing, Ciotola (577) places sixth in smallbore. Pentz tied TCU’s Catherine Green for seventh place with a score of 576. Bock (575) finished ninth, and Kyanko (574) finished in 10th place. WVU welcomes reigning NCAA champion, No. 2 Kentucky, to the WVU Rifle Range on Friday, Feb. 3, at 8 a.m. |
