Men's Soccer: Garrido Earns Academic Award
A native of Elkhart, Ind., Garrido recently completed a four-year career with 76 games played, 5,030 minutes played, three goals and 27 shots. WVU finished with a 34-30-14 record in his four seasons, including a 22-16-3 record in the last two seasons where WVU qualified for two NCAA tournaments. In the classroom Garrido has a 3.78 grade-point average as a business administration major with an emphasis in finance. Garrido has been a seven-time member of the Dean’s List, a four-time BIG EAST Academic All-Star and a seven-time member of the Garrett Ford Academic Honor Roll. He was also named to the 2010 CoSIDA/ESPN Academic All-District second team. The American Eagle Outfitters BIG EAST Scholar-Athlete of the Year award is one of a number of scholarships presented by the BIG EAST Conference and American Eagle Outfitters during the 2011-12 academic year. Thirty-two student-athletes (one male and one female from each of the BIG EAST’s 16 member institutions) will be named as the winners of the American Eagle Outfitters BIG EAST Institutional Scholar-Athlete Scholarships. The conference also names male and female American Eagle Outfitters BIG EAST Basketball Scholar-Athletes of the Year and an American Eagle Outfitters BIG EAST Football Scholar-Athlete of the Year. |
